We are here to help

The coronavirus pandemic has impacted all of our lives in some way over recent months and we have all tried to adjust to a new way of life. Since the crisis started we have made sure that our most vulnerable customers have received the help and support they need. We want to let you know that we are here and if you are struggling in any way, we want to help.

If you’re experiencing difficulties during this uncertain time, feel anxious or isolated or maybe you are unable to access necessary food supplies or need help collecting medicine, help is here for you.

There are many organisations and businesses across our communities providing much-needed help to those who need it. Some can provide immediate support, for example food banks and coronavirus support lines, and some will be able to provide long-term support such as employment and skills support, as well as fuel, furniture and mental health advice.

We also have access to emergency funding to help anyone who is in desperate need, for example having no money to pay for gas and electric to heat your home or cook food.

If you are experiencing any sort of difficulty, we are here to help. Taking the first step to ask for help is the hardest and we know that some people find it difficult to reach out. If you need our help and support it will always be treated in the strictest of confidence.

Loss of employment?

If you have lost your job due to the current coronavirus situation then Great Places’ Community Investment Team is here to help you search, apply and prepare for work. Throughout the pandemic they have supported over 80 customers into employment and our dedicated team is continuing to provide help to many more of our customers searching for employment opportunities.

The team can offer advice and guidance as well as referring you to our partner organisations that can help provide the support you need. Our Employability Coaches can work with you to build the skills you need to secure employment, all done over the phone or via email.

We have access to a range of job opportunities and we will work with you to find out the right path for you. We can support you to apply for vacancies and help you with all stages of the application process.

There are also many training providers that have adapted to the current crisis and we can link you to a range of online training opportunities that can help you gain skills and improve your employability, if needed.

We also understand that you may be experiencing financial hardship and we may be able to support you with travel costs, interview clothes or any other barriers you may face.
