Merger talks end with Mosscare St Vincent’s (MSV)

Last October it was announced that Great Places and MSV were in talks around a possible merger. However, much has changed in the external environment that has been outside of our control since these discussions began, and the Boards of both housing associations recently shared the news that these discussions have ended. Great Places and MSV will stay as separate organisations, with Matt Harrison remaining as Chief Executive of Great Places.

The news was shared in a joint statement from Tony Davison, Chair of Great Places and Gareth Hall, Chair of MSV. They said that the decision was consistent with our commitment to adapt to changing circumstances and prioritise the best interests of our customers and stakeholders.

Focus was placed on continuing our long history of working closely with MSV to tackle the housing crisis, fight homelessness and deliver great services to our customers. The statement went on to say:

‘We will look to the future by finding new ways to collaborate and plan to continue working together on repairs materials supply for MSV homes, a project that began as part of our merger preparations. We will also build on our joint work to date to deliver new governance arrangements that will strengthen the customer voice in our respective organisations.

‘Both Great Places and MSV would like to thank customers, colleagues and stakeholders for their ongoing support. We want to reassure everyone that both organisations are well placed to continue to serve our customers and communities, invest in existing and new homes and that we will continue to work together as long-standing partners as we look to the future.’
