Restaurant Event at Manor Park Primary School
Guests, parents and teachers were treated to a three-course meal cooked and served by pupils, aged between 9 and 11, from Manor Park Primary School in Knutsford, at a recent pop-up restaurant event held at the school.
The event was organised as part of a Great Places project called ‘Raising Aspirations’ with Manor Park Primary School, designed to give pupils real-life work experience.
Around 90 pupils took part in the event. Guests were treated to an Italian-themed menu including bruschetta pizza and lemon cheesecake. The children also decorated the hall, chose an opera soundtrack, and made individual place settings for guests.
Commenting on the event, Head Teacher, Simon Cotterill, said:
“Over the last year, our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils have taken part in a project developed to support children in raising their aspirations and opening their minds to the opportunities available to them in the wider world of work. The programme has helped them develop skills and behaviours which they can use to be successful in the future, and learn the attributes and positive character traits of successful people.”
Rebecca Banks, Community Partnership Manager at Great Places, added:
“I was absolutely delighted to be invited to the pop-up restaurant, a wonderful addition to the programme of activity commissioned by Great Places which aims at raising the aspirations of young people in Longridge and Shaw Heath.”
Longridge customers come out for a day of summer fun at the Welcome
Customers in our Anchor Neighbourhood of Longridge were out in force at the recent Funday organised by the Welcome Café.
Residents were treated to a host of games and refreshments, including a bouncy castle. Great Places alongside other local partners organised a variety of activities to engage with residents at the day-long event. These included Cheshire East Childrens Services’ playdough making session, @Sarah’s Yoga Warriors kid’s yoga, and a pop-up spa organised by Flourish Together. Cheshire Fire Brigade and Cheshire Police also brought along vehicles for children to explore, and the local NHS also provided a blood pressure check and advice pop up clinic.
The event also raised funds for The Welcome cafe and provided a valuable opportunity for members of the Great Places’ customer involvement team to gain additional views from customers to help inform our upcoming regeneration masterplan for the area.
Commenting on the day, Rebecca Banks, Community and Partnerships Manager for Great Places, said: “The Funday was a great day for everyone involved. Feedback from residents has been fantastic with many saying it’s been the best local event they’ve been to in years.”
“It was also a valuable opportunity to speak to customers about what they think are key priorities ahead of preparing our future Neighbourhood Plan for Longridge and Shaw Heath.”
