Garden makeover creates blooming success at Aldersgate Court
Customers at Aldersgate Court are enjoying brighter, more welcoming communal gardens thanks to the efforts of customer Ronald Lewis and his neighbours.
After receiving £100 in B&Q vouchers through Great Places’ Community Investment Fund, Ronald set out to transform the outdoor spaces into colourful gardens. Working alongside fellow customers, he refreshed flower beds, introduced seasonal planting and helped create a calming space for people to relax, enjoy and spend time together.
When Great Places colleagues visited in July 2026, they were impressed by the transformation and Ronald’s gardening knowledge, which he was proud to share.
The project shows what can be achieved when people come together to improve the place they call home. As Neighbourhood Services Manager Caroline Daley noted, the gardens are a great example of how a little support can help turn a community idea into reality.
