Welcome from Alison

Autumn is a time when many of us start thinking about the months ahead, from keeping our homes warm and managing household budgets, to settling back into everyday routines after summer.

In this edition of My Great Place, you’ll find practical advice and updates on how we’re improving services based on the feedback you give us. You’ll also find winter tips, guidance on money support, and the latest information about our services, which we hope will be useful to you.

There are also some great stories about what’s been happening in our communities, including customers taking on new opportunities and local projects that have brought people together.

Thank you to everyone who continues to share their views and get involved. Your feedback helps shape the services we provide, and many of the improvements featured throughout this magazine started with customers telling us what matters most to them.

I hope you enjoy reading it.

Take care,

Alison Dean Chief Executive Officer

Dress for success with Working Wardrobe

A job interview can be nerve-wracking enough without worrying about finding a professional outfit. That’s where Great Places’ Working Wardrobe comes in to help people bag their dream job.

Based at Bowland House on Primrose Bank, Blackburn, Working Wardrobe offers a range of free interview clothing in different styles and sizes, helping people feel confident and prepared for their interview.

As well as clothing, customers can access one-to-one interview coaching and advice tailored to the role they’re applying for.

If you can’t get to Bowland House, support can be provided remotely. Customers can discuss their interview and choose suitable clothing during a video call, with outfits delivered directly to their home. Working Wardrobe is available to Great Places customers across Lancashire, as well as people referred through local partner organisations, such as Job Centre Plus or Ingeus.

Customers come together to make a difference

Customers in the Whitefield area of Nelson recently joined local partners for a community action day focused on some of the issues that matter most in the neighbourhood, including fly-tipping, illegal parking and nuisance behaviour.

The day gave customers the chance to raise concerns, speak directly to different services and play a part in making their neighbourhood an even better place to live.
