A helping hand with Money Matters – introducing Lightning Reach
With prices going up, it can be hard to keep on top of bills, food and other everyday costs.
That’s why we’ve partnered with Lightning Reach, a free and safe online tool that helps you find and apply for financial support from over 2,500 charities, local councils, and organisations. All you have to do is answer a few simple questions and the portal will suggest grants, benefits and other assistance that can help with things like energy bills, fuel vouchers, furniture, white goods, and more. It’s already helped thousands of people across the UK, and now it’s here to help Great Places customers too - you can access it at any time via our website.
And remember, our Money Matters Team is here to help you. We offer free, confidential, one-on-one advice to help you manage your money, deal with debt, and feel more in control of your finances. Even small changes can make a big difference and we’re here to help every step of the way.

Inspiring young minds at Parliament
Pupils from St Mary’s RC Primary School in Stockport recently had an exciting visit to Parliament, thanks to a partnership between Great Places and Stockport County Community Trust. The children were welcomed by Stockport MP, Navendu Mishra. They explored the historic building and joined in some great conversations, showing how curious and proud they are of their community.
This visit is part of Great Places’ ongoing work to support fun and meaningful activities for young people in Stockport. Mr Mishra praised the project, saying it helps open up new opportunities.
But this wasn’t just a day out. It was a chance to spark big dreams, make new connections, and inspire the next generation.
