At Windmill House, Lynn Blissett helped organise a coffee afternoon, paying for drinks, snacks, entertainment and mystery bags to make the day extra special for her fellow residents. Singer at the event, Ant Oliver, even donated his fee back to the cause, meaning the event raised a total of £713.47!
Meanwhile, at St George’s Court coffee morning, customers were busy baking cakes, organising raffles and other fundraising activities to raise £443.29 for the charity.
A huge thanks to everyone who took part. It was a great way to come together and support a cause that means a lot to many.
Bringing life to the Old Co-op
Customers at the Old Co-op in Longridge have transformed an unused part of their building into a lovely new shared space, with a little help from Great Places.
The area, known as the Drying Pod, wasn’t being used much. Customers had a great idea to turn it into a relaxing spot with seating and plants for everyone to enjoy.
Neighbourhood Services Manager, Adam Marsden, and Community Partnership Manager, Aateeka Bashir, met with customers to hear their ideas. After checking the space was suitable, we got to work.
Caretaker Scott Holt helped clear and tidy the area, giving us a blank canvas. We then painted the space, added new furniture, and planted flowers in fresh planters. To keep the area safe, we’ve also added a code lock to the door so only those living there can access it.
Thanks to everyone involved for helping create a space the whole community can enjoy!
