Empowering women through art
Great Places is proud to support WETA (Women’s Empowerment Through Art) with a £4,000 grant from our Greater Together Resilience Fund.
Based in Northmoor, WETA helps South Asian women feel less isolated and improve their mental wellbeing through creative workshops inspired by cultural traditions. Using henna art as a calming and creative activity, WETA offers a safe space where women can build confidence, connect with others, and rediscover their voice. The impact has been powerful, with some women having gone from feeling invisible to leading workshops, earning money, and supporting others in their community.
This grassroots project shows our commitment to building inclusive and resilient communities. As one participant shared:
“It feels like home. The people here are like my second family.”

Tackling Anti-social behaviour head-on
Anti-social behaviour comes in many forms and its impact on neighbours and communities can be damaging. At Great Places, we believe it’s important to step in early to stop things from getting worse.
Last year, we handled 1,989 cases of anti-social behaviour. Most were sorted out by working closely with the people involved. But when needed, we took strong legal steps. Our Housing and Enforcement Team got 16 court orders (called injunctions) against people who didn’t follow the rules. In one serious case, someone was sent to prison for breaking the order.
We also took seven people to court to remove them from their homes because of ongoing anti-social behaviour. These actions were only possible thanks to the bravery and support of our customers, who helped us by speaking up and giving evidence.
Taking legal action is sometimes necessary, but our main aim is always to fix problems quickly and in a positive way, so everyone can feel safe and proud of where they live.
