Investing in your homes
At Great Places, we’re working hard to make your home safe, comfortable and energy efficient.
This year, we’re investing in improvements across our communities, including:
• £3.54m for new kitchens and bathrooms in 618 homes.
• £811k to replace external doors in 615 homes.
• £1.54m for roof and exterior upgrades.
• £833k for new windows in 278 homes.
• £3.5m for boilers and heating systems.
• £1.8m for painting and fencing.
We’re also upgrading older homes to make them warmer, greener and cheaper to run. Our goal is for every home to meet a good energy standard (EPC C) by 2030. Right now, 2,467 homes (13.3%) are below this level. Over the next three years, we plan to upgrade 1,875 homes in South Yorkshire and Greater Manchester. We’re improving heat networks in Manchester and Blackpool, with more planned in Salford and Blackpool.
Safety is a top priority, with £3.7 million set aside for building and fire safety work.
Looking ahead, we’re introducing new ways of working to tackle damp and mould, manage complex repairs, and explore smart home technology.
A new Sustainability Strategy will also guide our long-term plans, making sure your home is ready for the future. We’ll keep you updated in future editions of My Great Place.
If you have any questions, email BuildingSafetyandFire@greatplaces.org.uk and someone from our team will be happy to help.
A day of wellbeing at Richmond Park
Over 100 residents came along to our health and community fun day over at Richmond Park and Birklands Community Centre this summer. The event was hosted by our Community Investment Team and our partners, Healthwatch Sheffield.
Through our Greater Together Resilience Fund, we’ve been working with Healthwatch Sheffield to improve the health and wellbeing provision in Richmond Park and Wybourn. Healthwatch used the funding to get out into our communities and meet with customers and residents to find out what’s already available and what people would like to see more of.
To kick things off, they held a health and community fun day in the sun at Richmond Park! There was something for everyone, from face-painting and Bollywood dancing, to financial advice and NHS health checks. It was a busy and exciting day for the whole community.
