Accessing support from the Money Matters team is simple. Just drop them an email at moneymatters@greatplaces.org.uk, and a team member will promptly respond to assist you. The team conducts a thorough review of your financial circumstances, ensuring you are aware of crucial details that can impact your financial wellbeing.
The Money Matters team aims to empower you in various ways, including maximising your income by identifying unclaimed welfare benefits, guiding you through challenging incorrect benefit decisions, explaining changes to the welfare benefits system, and assisting with utility and water debt matters. They can also provide advice on addressing problem debt, applying for grants and offering budgeting tips.
In addition to their regular services, the Money Matters team is actively engaged in informing clients about the upcoming Cost of Living Payment. The third payment, a total of £299 for the 2023/2024 financial year, will be automatically sent to qualifying claimers between February 6 and 22, 2024. The payment is available for recipients of Universal Credit, Income-based Jobseekers Allowance, Income-related Employment and Support Allowance, Income Support, Working Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, and Pension Credit.
In addition, since October 2021, the Household Support Fund has been aiding vulnerable households in coping with the rising cost of living.
This fund, extended until March 31, 2024, provides immediate assistance with energy costs and may also cover water, broadband, phone bills, food, clothing and hygiene products.
