A fresh start for Denise
After more than 23 years in her Crumpsall flat, our long-term customer Denise knew her home no longer met her needs. As her health and mobility changed, everyday tasks became harder and her independence had taken a knock.
Working with Denise, our Independence and Wellbeing team explored housing options that would help her stay safe, independent and closer to her family. With support from Housing & Contracts Officer, Beth Leventhall, a tailored rehousing plan was put in place. With this support, Denise was able to move to one of our over 55s schemes in Swinton.
And the move has made a real difference! Denise’s new home has level access, a walk-in shower and is closer to her family, helping reduce travel costs and making it easier to spend time with loved ones, including picking up her young niece from school.
Living at the scheme has also helped Denise feel more connected. She’s made new friends and is taking part in activities, something she previously struggled with due to isolation.
The move is especially meaningful, as Denise’s mum once worked as a warden at the scheme! Denise says her new home has improved both her physical and mental wellbeing, helping her feel happy, safe and supported.
Bringing faster broadband to more homes
We’re working with fibre broadband companies to bring faster, more reliable internet to more of our homes. This includes installing Full Fibre (FTTP), which brings the connection straight into your home.
Once work in your building is complete, you’ll be able to order Full Fibre from your usual internet provider. Many packages cost around the same as standard broadband, but offer a stronger and more reliable connection, meaning faster downloads, smoother streaming and better support for working or learning from home.
If your building is included, the broadband provider will contact you directly with information on the upgrade. You can also check if Full Fibre is available for your home by using your provider’s online checker.
