Making houses into homes

At Great Places, we know that creating a home is about more than just four walls. For many customers, especially those facing financial hardship or rebuilding their lives, having access to furniture can make all the difference.

That’s why we’ve built strong partnerships with local charities across our regions to help customers turn their properties into comfortable, welcoming homes.

Through organisations such as Emmaus, The Brick, and SAWN, customers can access good quality, pre-owned furniture, essential household appliances, and even recycled paint. These partnerships do more than provide furniture – they help customers feel supported and remind them they’re not facing challenges alone.

Colleagues across Great Places see the impact first-hand. Whether it’s helping someone move into a new property, supporting families leaving difficult situations, or providing essentials during the cost of living crisis, these donations help customers settle in, feel secure and maintain their tenancy.

This shows what’s possible when local charities and housing associations work together to help customers build safe and brighter futures.

The Renters’ Rights Act is now live - no action required

You may have seen or heard about changes to renting laws called the Renters’ Rights Act, which came into effect from 1 May 2026.

We want to reassure you that these changes do not apply to you if you are a social housing customer with Great Places.

The Renters’ Rights Act affects people renting in the private rented sector, such as market rent homes. Social housing tenancies already provide strong protections and security, so your rights and tenancy arrangements remain the same.

This means you are not missing out - the new law is intended to give private renters protections that social housing customers already have.

You do not need to take any action. If you have questions about your tenancy, our Customer Hub team will be happy to help.
