What’s the story in Richmond Park?

Lots of work is going on in Richmond Park to make the most of the community centre and help it become the buzzing heart of the local area.

Our Community Partnership Manager, Felix Dyer, has been working closely with the community to understand what activities and support local people would like to see, and how we can deliver these. Much of this builds on what’s already happening, such as the weekly chair yoga sessions, which are popular with some of our older residents.

We’ve also just finished our work with Healthwatch Sheffield to introduce more wellbeing activities, such as coffee mornings and Green Growing Groups. The much-loved Sheffield Wednesday Football Club youth provision is also continuing until 2026, with more opportunities for young people currently being explored.

To help with the cost of living, we’re working with FoodWorks to provide extra meals during school holidays, with additional support for parents of children under five. The long-term aim is to eventually establish a Food Co-operative.

All of this work is helping the Richmond Park and Birklands Community Centre reach its full potential - run for the community, by the community.
