The Greater Together Resilience Fund – building healthy communities

We are thrilled to announce the organisations receiving funding from our Greater Together Resilience Fund this year.

Back in September, we opened the call for bids for our £100,000 fund, aimed at building healthy communities. This fund is distributed on a commissioning basis to various organisations working in our regions. Applicants had to demonstrate their ability to support our customers' health and wellbeing, with a focus on early intervention, prevention services, or community cohesion activities and projects.

Our Community Investment Team and regional Community Partnership Managers, who allocate the funding, were particularly interested in applicants providing support in areas such as:

  • Accessing health services.
  • Clinical preventative services.
  • Improving environmental quality.
  • Maternal, infant, and child health.
  • Mental health.
  • Nutrition, physical activity, and obesity.
  • Oral health.
  • Reproductive and sexual health.
  • Addressing hate crime.
  • Challenging negative stereotypes.

In total, 84 organisations applied for our funding, including 23 from the Lancashire region (North), 42 from around Greater Manchester, Stockport and Cheshire (South), 13 around the Oldham, Rochdale and Bury areas (Central), and five from Yorkshire (East), along with a London-based national organisation. Out of these, 20 were successful, and the total fund has been split between the regions as follows:

  • £23,500 for North
  • £38,000 for South
  • £15,000 for East
  • £23,500 for Central

Funded Organisations

Through this funding, these organisations will support people in our communities in a variety of ways, including:

  • Mental health and homelessness support;
  • Education and training opportunities;
  • Safe spaces for vulnerable individuals;
  • Entrepreneurship support;
  • Legal advice;
  • Creative, sport and leisure activities and opportunities; and more.

You can learn more about each organisation on our Resilience Fund webpage.

While 63 organisations were ultimately not selected, nine of them had follow-up meetings with their regional Community Partnership Manager. These organisations are now working with Daniel Mountford, our Funding Partnership Lead, to explore other ways of collaborating with Great Places and accessing external funds.

Organisations with follow-up opportunities include:

  • Manc Way
  • MadLab
  • Stockport County
  • Community Newspaper
  • Blackburn CVS
  • Rise Up
  • Revive Church
  • Pursuing Individual Excellence
  • Longsight Church of Nazarene

We are proud to be more than just a landlord and to see the real difference our partnerships can achieve. We look forward to seeing the great work that will come from this year’s funding!
