Investing in Your Homes – An update from our Assets Team
Investing in your homes remains a top priority to ensure they are comfortable, safe, and energy efficient.
This year, we’re spending £16.5 million on home improvements, with significant investments planned up to March 2025, including:

£5.25 million on kitchens and bathrooms in 850 homes

£670k on replacing external doors

£1.25 million on external and roof improvements

£925k on new windows for 205 homes

£5.5 million on new boilers and heating systems

£2.2 million on painting and fencing projects
Building safety remains a key priority, with £1,877,000 invested in additional safety measures, particularly in apartment blocks.
Work continued with our energy improvements programme which aims to meet environmental commitments by improving the energy efficiency in around 3,500 homes with a commitment to upgrade these homes by 2030. Supported by £1.7 million from the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund, energy-efficiency improvements are underway in over 300 homes in Greater Manchester and Sheffield, to be completed by March 2025.
Work also continues to improve the efficiency of our communal heat networks. Our £3.3m project to upgrade the Richmond Park Heat Network in Sheffield is complete and we expect the improvements will reduce heat losses by 40% in customer homes and reduce gas consumption by 23%. We have received funding to look at improvements to our heat network at John Atkinson Court in Salford and applied for further improvements studies for heat networks in Blackpool and Manchester.
This continues to be a busy year for the Assets Team as we make our homes safer, greener, and more efficient. We look forward to updating you on our progress in future editions of My Great Place.
