Welcoming our Growing Greatness Graduates and Apprentices
We’re passionate about nurturing new talent, and our Growing Greatness graduate and apprenticeship programme has supported countless colleagues to thrive over the years, many continuing their careers with us afterwards.
Since September 2022 alone, we’ve welcomed over 70 colleagues to the business through the programme.
Our programme is a fantastic entry point to many of our teams and services, and this year, we expanded the programme with some new graduate positions. We cast as wide a net as possible in the outreach stage of our recruitment process, in order to give as many people from all backgrounds as possible the opportunity to develop their careers with us. In total, we received an incredible 2,449 applications for our 25 apprentice and graduate roles, with over 7% of applicants declaring that they were social housing tenants.
Once shortlists were drawn, thirteen assessment days took place throughout the business, attended as well by some of our current apprentices and graduates to help give applicants an idea of what it’s like to undergo the programme with us. Standards were incredibly high, and it was a tricky process to narrow it down – with one single role receiving 529 applications!
Across the board, roughly 100 applicants were taken to the final interview stage, and the successful 25 started with us in September. A number of these new recruits are social housing customers, including some who live in our Great Places homes. For the next two years (and four years for some of the apprentices), they will be supported to thrive through mentoring, one-to-one development and training, gaining further qualifications and workshops delivered both internally and externally.
We are delighted to welcome our latest cohort who have joined the following teams across the business: Customer Experience, Assets, People, Plumlife Sales, Neighbourhoods, Independence and Wellbeing, Tech Services, Development, Finance and Repairs.
