Great places donates £11,000 to Blackburn project
Great Places Housing Group has donated £11,000 to a Blackburn project helping vulnerable women. The money has been used to fund the Billy Project’s Community Fridge Project, which helps provide food, healthy eating tips and budgeting advice to women who are at risk.
The food initiative is based in Albert Street, Mill Hill, at the project’s headquarters which also provides women with a safe space to exercise and also access other services around health, wellbeing and more specialised trauma-informed services.
Great Places’ Head of Community Investment, Rosie Longden, said: “We have been working with the Billy Project for a number of years and we are delighted to be able to be able to support them further. They do incredible work with a very vulnerable client group and the Community Fridge has been a lifeline to some people in that area of Blackburn. Working in partnership with other services, they have helped women at risk access the help they need and provide support to others. We look forward to seeing the project blossom.”
Director Leanne Proctor said: “We are so grateful to Great Places for their continued funding and support as it’s making such a huge impact on the people who access the Billy Project.
“It’s been a vital resource for the community and we are delighted that Great Places can see the valuable work we are doing with a group who need our help.”
