A focus on Building Greatness

1 April 2021 marked the first anniversary of our new business following the merger between Great Places and Equity Housing Groups on 1 April 2020.

As part of the celebrations and to mark the special occasion, we launched our new Corporate Plan to outline our ambitions and priorities from 2021-2023. It focuses on how we are going to continue to deliver on our vision of Great Homes, Great Communities, Great People as a bigger and stronger organisation over the next two years.

In developing the Plan, we consulted extensively with customers and colleagues. Based on 400 customer responses, the three most important factors were: feeling safe in the home, being kept informed, and having a range of ways to access services. All are priority areas of focus for Great Places.

The key theme throughout is stability, collaboration and ambition and the Plan is called Building Greatness, which fits well with both the development aspirations of the business and our ambitions to improve and to deliver better services to all our customers.

The 10-year ambitions we set back in 2018 have been tweaked where needed but continue to set the long-term roadmap for Great Places, and there are some important priorities and objectives amongst them. For Great Homes: we aim to build 9,000 new homes by 2028; and 11,000 by 2030, with the majority being through modern construction techniques. Within Great Communities: we still want a Top 10 rating for customer satisfaction through the Institute of Customer Service. For Great People: we still want to be the No.1 employer in our sector.

As well as highlighting priorities through Homes, Communities and People, there are two other threads running through this version. One is based on restating our profit-for-purpose ethos. In a time when many of our customers have been severely impacted by the pandemic, we strive to support the vulnerable and help to minimise the impact of Covid-19 for our customers and neighbourhoods. The second is based on delivering the partnership objectives, so we are regarded as One Business to everyone we work with.
