Our green agenda – helping customers to reduce their carbon footprint

Climate change is a huge challenge facing the world today. In April this year, we launched our carbon management strategy, an ambitious three-year plan that sets out our commitment to support the environment by reducing our carbon emissions, enabling us to become a net-zero carbon business by 2038.

Our plans to achieve this green agenda include a dedicated Carbon Champion within our executive team, and setting targets for decarbonisation and improving homes with low energy performance ratings. Targeting our low rated homes will help our customers reduce their energy demand, save money on their bills and have warmer, healthier homes.

We currently have two projects in Fylde and Burnley where we are looking at the energy performance of our homes and we have commissioned research to look at how we can look to reduce the carbon footprint of our new homes programme.

We are also currently trialling the use of electric vehicles in our business and the energy efficiency across our office buildings. We have also carried out a review of the stationery we order and have changed our core list to include eco-friendly options. In addition, our supplier has committed to reducing their carbon footprint, including reducing number of deliveries and minimising packaging.

The new scheduling system for our repairs team has also helped to save time and reduce the number of miles driven to repairs appointments. Since its launch, this has helped save an estimated 1,700 miles, as of mid-November 2021.
