There’s more than meets the eyes at Northmoor

Great Places’ Community Investment Team has been busy with the Northmoor Community Association to put on some courses for customers in the area.

The first is a series of ESOL (English As a Second Language) classes by an organisation called Ehabits and the second are sewing classes at the centre. We will continue to work with the community centre and react when they identify the needs of the community, so make sure you get in touch if any of these courses interest you, or for more community engagement in the area.

The team has also been part of a fantastic project to bring the rich diversity of the area to life.

We have partnered up with performance makers Quarantine, to create a new audio piece along Northmoor Road in Longsight. The audio tour is made of the stories of the people who live and work in the area, from a tour guide who plays the saxophone in the local park to a green grocer who used to keep pigeons in Pakistan.

The tour launched in February, but will be available for anyone: if you can’t make it to Longsight it can be listened from anywhere as a podcast.
