Welcome to the final edition of My Great Place in 2022.
It’s been another challenging six months for our customers, and the business, given the cost of living crisis and what’s happened to energy prices. This has had a profound effect on everyone in the UK.
To help, colleagues have been working hard to provide funding for projects across our communities for those who have been hardest hit and directly for those people most in need.
There are hints and tips in the Helping you face the financial crisis section on how you can reduce your energy usage and keep your bills down during the winter months. There is also advice on how to make the most out of your money on the Helping you to tackle the energy crisis page, and information on how our specialists can help you with finances if you are struggling.
With business costs increasing, we are looking a new ways to achieve our goals and minimise impact on our current customers and homes. We also need to continue developing new homes to address the huge shortage across the UK. We have been able to continue with our ambitious development plans to build 11,000 new homes over the next 10 years as well as continue with our huge investment plan to improve our existing homes.
One such project is Bowland House in Blackburn, which has undergone a £3.9million regeneration programme to improve safety. You can find more information here. There are also tips and advice on how to combat mould as the season changes here. In the last edition, we introduced the new My Place portal, which allows Great Places’ customers to manage their account 24/7.
Alongside our brand new website, it’s the ideal way to keep up to date and manage your account your way. You can find out more here.
Early in the new year we will be in contact with customers regarding the setting of next year’s rents. This formula is set by the Government and decides how rent increases are calculated. See more about this on here.
Finally, we must, of course, mark the passing of Her Majesty The Queen, who gave 70 incredible years’ service to the nation. Her legacy will live on and her tireless work will never be forgotten.
We hope you enjoy reading this edition of My Great Place.
Yours
Matt Harrison
